Obuse is a charming historic town in Nagano, rich in art and culture. Stroll through sake breweries and galleries, and savour the flavours of local confectioneries and traditional restaurants

Obuse is a charming historic town renowned for its art heritage and premium local produce. The town is home to the Hokusai Museum, dedicated to the ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai — creator of The Great Wave — as well as galleries, Japanese paper crafts, and the over 270 year old Masuichi Sake Brewery.

The surrounding farmland makes Obuse one of Japan's leading producers of chestnuts, shimeji mushrooms, and maru-nasu eggplants. Chestnut lovers will find no shortage of treats — ice cream, cakes, cookies, and traditional Japanese sweets. For those after something different, apple turnovers, soft serve, and crepes are equally tempting.

With so much to explore, Obuse is a popular day-trip destination — but on this tour you'll have 90 minutes to take it all in. Your guide will highlight the must-sees so you can make the most of your time.
