with traditional Japanese lunch at the historic town of Obuse
EVERY Day - December 20th 2025 to February 28th 2026 (except Jan 1st)
EVERY Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday - in March
The world-famous Jigokudani Wild Snow Monkey Park is home to about 200 wild monkeys that spend their days soaking in the natural hot springs to keep warm through the harsh winter. Opened in 1964, it is considered the only place in the world where you can see snow monkeys bathing in the wild. The hike to the hot springs takes about 40 minutes each way. From the monkey park, we continue to the historic town of Obuse, known as the home of the renowned Japanese artist Hokusai and the Masuichi Sake Brewery. Lunch is a delicious traditional Japanese set course meal, with a choice of main dishes, dessert, and a glass of sake included. Our next stop is Nagano City, home to Zenkoji Temple, a designated National Treasure with over 1,400 years of history. It is one of Japan’s most revered temples and houses the first image of Buddha ever brought to Japan in the 6th century. The streets surrounding the temple are lined with lantern-lit shops, tiered-roof stalls, souvenir stores, and galleries.
